Leather is important to me because: of the traditions of the community, the sense of connection one has when they walk into a leather bar, gathering, event in another town. Also, the self discovery the community provides as it supports one another in expanding their knowledge, experiences, mind, body and soul.  Or, it could just be that leather is fucking hot!: 

Why you're an ICON in the leather community: Two reasons - One would be the unique gap I bridge between the leather community and spiritual community as a leader in the Metropolitan Community Churches worldwide.  The other is because I make up one half a great partnership of 14 years.  After all, we are the "Bill & Hillary" of the Detroit leather community.
